The Shared Power Network's Green Machine, a solar panel system that generates electricity off of the sun, is being used to educate students about renewable energy. The organization, a recipient of IGS Energy's Clean Energy for Everyone grant, is using their funding to provide Green Machines for 40 schools in Central Ohio.
As the opioid epidemic continues to grip Ohio and the nation, with more than 5,000 opioid-related overdose deaths in the state in 2017, IGS has stepped up to fight this crisis.
On Thursday, October 25, IGS volunteers will visit Pittsburgh Allegheny Elementary School in Pittsburgh to put on a coat donation event for hundreds of kids in need. The event will pair volunteers with young students to help them try on, and go home with, a brand-new, warm winter coat. The gift of a new coat not only keeps a child warm, but provides a boost in self-esteem and the confidence to get to school on cold days.
Established in 2017, this four-day event will take place in Historic Downtown Pickerington located at the corner of N. Center Street and Town Square Drive, from Wednesday, July 11th through Saturday, July 14th.
