Renergy and IGS CNG Services Opening CNG Fueling Station In Marengo, Ohio

Trucks powered by Compressed Natural Gas

Renergy and IGS CNG Services partnered to construct a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station at the intersection of Interstate 71 and Ohio State Route 61. The station broke ground in May 2015 and is now open to anyone driving CNG fueled vehicles.

“It’s a partnership that made sense from the start,” says Mike Oberfield, chief operating officer for Renergy. “It became immediately clear in our initial discussions with IGS that we were closely aligned in our approach to business, commitment to the community, and strong belief in developing alternative energy resources.”

“We are excited to partner with a business that shares our commitment to putting the environment first, while also having the opportunity to collaborate with the Ringler family [owners of Renergy] to build this station in Marengo,” says Mike Gatt, vice president of IGS CNG Services.

Renergy’s transportation division operates a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to transport organics from their customers and will serve as the anchor to the new CNG pumps.

Now that the unmanned station is officially open to the public, businesses and residents can save money and use clean, alternative fuel in their natural gas vehicles. Customers will be able to use IGS fleet cards, as well as many widely used credit cards to pay for the fuel.

Overall, CNG is a cleaner burning alternative fuel, emitting up to 30 percent less carbon dioxide, approximately 75 percent less carbon monoxide and nearly 95 percent less particulate matter than gasoline or diesel.

The fuel also typically costs less than the price of gasoline, is about 20 to 40 percent below current diesel prices, and is produced domestically in states like Ohio. Currently, there is more than a 100-year natural gas supply in the United States alone.

The strategic location of the station off I-71 ensures heavy trucks and passenger vehicles traveling the corridor between Cleveland and Columbus will have convenient access to CNG without range anxiety.
