Dublin, OH, November 4, 2016 – IGS Energy, a leading independent natural gas and electricity supplier, has announced its plans to support Operation Warm for the third year in a row. Since 2014, IGS Energy has donated $50,000 to the non-profit, and plans to surpass its goal of donating $20,000 this year.

“When a current or new customer ‘bundles’ our products together, we make a donation to Operation Warm to help children stay warm this season,” said Kerri Ward, director of residential marketing and corporate communications.

IGS’s donations to Operation Warm are used to manufacture and provide new coats for kids in need. The organization has found that giving new winter coats as opposed to used clothing can boost children’s self-esteem and peer acceptance, in addition to many other benefits. Operation Warm primarily serves children ages three to 13, and together with select non-profit and community organizations, they identify children that qualify to receive new coats.

Jen Bowden, director of community investment at IGS, said, “We’re dedicated to giving back to the communities where we live and work. We decided to support Operation Warm because we felt there is a strong alignment between their mission and our business – the value of keeping someone warm.”

To-date, IGS Energy’s donations have contributed to more than 2,700 new coats being given to kids in need throughout the energy supplier’s core markets.

About Operation Warm Operation Warm is a national nonprofit organization empowering children in need by providing them with brand new winter coats. Our organization was born in 1998 when the first 58 coats were donated by our founder, Dick Sanford. Since then, millions of children have received brand new coats as a result of communities united, working together to improve the lives of children living in poverty by giving them a fundamental life necessity: warmth. Each year, we create a new line of winter coats in updated styles and colors to ensure that Operation Warm coats become the pride and joy of children who rarely feel the emotions connected to receiving a brand new piece of clothing.

For a child, a brand new winter coat can be #morethanacoat. Give to Operation Warm or start your own community program at www.operationwarm.org.
