Hormel Foods, seeking to minimize their impact on the environment, was looking for a way to use renewable energy to power their Swiss American Sausage Company facility in Lathrop, California.
Partnering with HOLT Renewables, IGS Solar installed a near 2,000-panel solar array on the roof and ground spaces at the facility.
The array is expected to generate 1.2 million kWh per year, accounting for 15% of the facility’s annual power needs. The CO2 emissions that are being offset due to this installation are equivalent to burning more than 900,000 pounds of coal.
