The regional public transit authority’s service area reaches 1.2 million people throughout Central Ohio. When the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) started using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to fuel transit buses, they would experience compressor shut-downs and low pressure at the dispensers. It became clear that COTA needed additional support to have reliable fueling 365 days a year to support their fleet of 150 buses each night. It became evident that new reliable fueling solutions would be necessary to ensure that COTA’s fleet of CNG buses would be ready for service by 4 AM each morning.
COTA contracted with IGS CNG Services to assist with maintenance of their station. We made recommendations to boost the station’s reliability and prompt an increase in fill speeds. The successful partnership between COTA and IGS CNG Services has since expanded to include the public-facing satellite station on the transit authority’s grounds.
