Since we started in 1989, we've been helping to shape the future of energy, which today includes 100% green electricity along with other clean energy options. We think making good choices should be easier, because every good choice we make today impacts our planet tomorrow. We're an independent group of people like you making a conscious choice to be part of the solution to make eco-friendly budget-friendly, too.
Because we're not a utility monopoly, we're unencumbered by incentives to maintain the status quo. Utilities often can’t offer the robust product options available from suppliers, because they don't profit on the actual electricity supply. They charge for the transmission and distribution portions (getting the energy to your home).
When you work with a supplier like IGS Energy, we work with your utility, who will still distribute the energy to your home. You'll have the confidence knowing that your eco-friendly energy choice is making a difference for our planet.
Day 1: Sign up for 100% green electricity. We’ll create an online account, MyAccount, to help you manage your communication preferences and house all of your product details in one spot.
Day 2-14: Receive a welcome letter from IGS Energy with the terms and conditions for your selected product(s). You will receive a letter from your utility confirming your enrollment with us. Don’t worry, this is just a formality.
Day 30-90: It’s time to energize your home! Now IGS Energy begins supplying your electricity, and your new rate will be reflected on your bill. This timing will vary by utility. You will find IGS Energy listed under the ‘supply’ section of your bill.
Day 90, 180, 365: Cheers to our anniversary! IGS will notify you 30-60 days before your electricity term length is set to end, letting you know that you’re eligible to renew your product(s) and continue enjoying budget protection and peace of mind.
Yes. Renewable energy is reliable because there is no shortage of it on the planet. Though it may be cloudy outside, or the wind turbine might not be spinning, grid operators draw on reserves from other sources, like hydroelectric power and quick-starting natural gas plants to fill the gap. Additionally, just because the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing outside your window, the broad geographic area of renewable energy helps ensure a steady supply of power.
Yes. Generating electricity from renewable sources like wind or solar avoids emissions that would otherwise be released from fossil fuel generation.
