In 2014, IGS launched a wintertime campaign called “Bundle Up,” created to help IGS support children in need when customers purchase of two or more products (a bundle). As part of the campaign, IGS partnered with Operation Warm – a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide warmth, confidence, and hope to children in need through the gift of brand new winter coats.

17,500 Coats…and Growing

The IGS + Operation Warm partnership has grown immensely in the last five years, with campaign results that distributed just a few hundred coats in 2014, all the way to 2017 when over 12,000 coats were given – and goals for 2018 are set to reach 13,000 coats (or a $234,000 investment). The campaigns continue to grow IGS associate involvement, as well, with several “coat drops” occurring in key IGS markets throughout the wintertime.

“We volunteer with Operation Warm as a way for our employees to be engaged in their communities and to give back where they live and work,” said Elizabeth Lugviel, Community Investment Specialist at IGS. “It’s a great way for them to see the fruits of their labor – what their work equates to when it comes to our Bundle Up campaign.”

Operation Warm: 20 years and 3 million brand new coats

This year, IGS has joined Operation Warm on its 3 Millionth Coat Tour, with coat drop events in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Columbus, and Cincinnati. “IGS has been a wonderful partner. We’ve given away thousands of coats together,” said Grace Sica, Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Operation Warm. “At the coat tour stops - particularly the Pittsburgh stop - we are really celebrating IGS’s participation, the participation of their employees, and their commitment to giving back to their community.”

More Than A Coat

“You never know what that seemingly small token can do for a child,” said Tom Cephas, Regional Manager for IGS. And that’s why Operation Warm says that it’s “More Than a Coat.” A brand new winter coat to call their own provides children with so much more than physical warmth. It increases self-esteem, peer acceptance, school attendance, physical activity, and increased confidence children need to succeed.
